The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office has charged former TCU safety Jacob Fields with aggravated assault following an incident in a locker room on August 13. The charge was filed on September 23, with allegations that Fields intentionally or recklessly caused serious bodily injury to TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma.
According to the complaint, Fields is accused of striking Ezukanma in the head and possibly kicking him while he was on the ground. Ezukanma reportedly suffered a concussion and spent three days hospitalized due to a brain bleed resulting from the altercation. Witnesses indicated that Fields hit Ezukanma from behind, causing him to lose consciousness.
After the incident, Fields turned himself in to authorities on August 30. He was dismissed from the TCU football team shortly after, on August 18. Fields later sent a text message to Ezukanma apologizing for his actions. The incident reportedly stemmed from Fields' frustration over his performance during practice.
