Two retail projects in North Texas are moving through the state construction filing process, with estimated work totaling more than $23 million. The filings submitted through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation list a new Target project in Fort Worth and a TJ Maxx renovation in Grand Prairie.
Target is planning a store at 5900 Retail Way in Fort Worth with an estimated project cost of about $22 million, according to the filing. The project is listed as Chisholm Trail Target, and the source reports it is expected to be Target’s sixth Fort Worth store.
The Fort Worth filing lists August 2026 as the estimated completion date. Timelines in TDLR filings are preliminary and can change as projects move through permitting and construction.
In Grand Prairie, TJ Maxx is tied to a planned $1.3 million renovation at 3166 State Highway 161, Suite 120. The filing says the work would turn an existing space of about 25,000 square feet into a TJ Maxx store, with construction expected to start in October 2026 and finish in March 2027.
The Grand Prairie store would be the first TJ Maxx location in that city, according to reporting on the project. The retailer already has multiple stores elsewhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
