Boyd Independent School District held its first public meeting after the Boyd Police Department disclosed details of an alleged hazing investigation at the Boyd High School field house. Four students have been arrested in connection with the case.
The investigation began Sept. 3, when police received a criminal complaint alleging that a 14-year-old football player had been hazed by older students inside the field house. The school’s principal and athletic director spoke during the district meeting, but neither publicly addressed the specific allegations described in police reports and court documents.
Superintendent Tom Woody discussed the investigation after the meeting. “We're upset the incident took place, we're upset its out in the media, and so many people are, you know, are out making comments,” Woody said.
Two 17-year-old students, Chason Lee-Earl Tucker and Noah Davis Stevens, are being prosecuted as adults on felony allegations involving unlawful restraint and bodily harm to a child, according to police and court documents. The other two arrested students are being handled as juveniles.
