Arlington is about 13 miles east of Fort Worth. The city has outlined a series of complimentary public gatherings scheduled for the week of July 2 through July 8, 2026. These activities span multiple neighborhoods and include parades, performances, and volunteer opportunities.
The week begins with First Thursdays on July 2, running from 5 to 8 p.m. in the downtown district. Organizers describe the event as a summer celebration featuring live music and family-oriented activities. Highlights include a dance party and studio tour at Miss Persis Studio of Dance, a foam-filled bus experience at City Center Plaza, and performances by the University of Texas at Arlington Drumline.
On July 4, the Arlington Independence Day Parade will take place at 9 a.m. in downtown Arlington. The city notes this is the largest Independence Day parade in Texas and expects large crowds to gather for the patriotic celebration.
The following evening, July 5, brings Light Up Arlington 2026 to the Entertainment District. Starting at 9:30 p.m., the event combines drone technology, music, and fireworks to mark both the city’s 150th anniversary and the nation’s 250th birthday. Attendees are advised to bring seating and can park for free in Texas Rangers Lots F, G, M, and N starting at 7 p.m.
Volunteers can participate in the Lake Arlington Garden Activity Day on July 7. From 8 to 10 a.m., participants will gather at the Lake Arlington Native Plant & Pollinator Garden to help restore native prairie grasses and wildflowers.
