A Fort Worth man is facing multiple criminal charges following an incident at a residential swimming pool where a child nearly drowned. Evangelin Carr, 45, was arrested Saturday evening after police say he physically resisted the emergency responders who were saving the young person.
Fort Worth police officers received a call regarding a water emergency shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Pinnacle Ridge Road. Upon arrival, they found that firefighters had already rescued a child from the pool and were providing medical treatment.
According to law enforcement, Carr attempted to remove the child from the scene while first responders were attending to them. This action reportedly triggered a physical altercation with police officers who intervened. Officers were able to restrain Carr and place him under arrest.
Carr is being held on charges including aggravated assault against a public servant, resisting arrest, interfering with public duties, and abandoning or endangering a child in imminent danger. Police stated that the rescued child was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
