Yoriel Cabrera, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, according to the Fort Worth Police Department. The charges follow a collision in south Fort Worth that left two adults in serious condition.
Officers arrived at the 5700 block of Crowley Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday to investigate a reported hit-and-run. Upon arrival, police discovered two adults who had been struck by a vehicle. Both individuals were transported to a hospital, where they were listed in serious condition.
Police stated that Cabrera attempted to leave the scene of the accident. A witness was able to detain him before he could depart. Fort Worth police spokesman Bradley C. Perez noted that while Cabrera sustained injuries, the suspect attributed them to an incident involving people he had been playing pool with.
Perez added that it is not yet clear if any injuries occurred during the detention process.
