Fort Worth firefighters rescued three puppies and assisted several displaced residents after responding to an apartment fire on Sunday evening. The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Las Vegas Trail, where multiple emergency calls were received around 7 p.m.
Initial reports described the blaze as a kitchen grease fire that rapidly spread throughout the unit. Upon arrival, responders observed flames emanating from a second-floor apartment. The building’s power was shut off to allow crews to safely combat the flames.
The resident of the affected unit and his dog were able to escape before help arrived. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes, preventing it from engulfing the entire structure. Officials stated that damage was limited to the unit where the fire started and two neighboring apartments.
While searching for other occupants, firefighters discovered three small puppies inside the building. The animals were found unharmed and were reunited with their owner. No injuries were reported among any people or animals involved in the incident.
With temperatures high and displaced residents lacking alternative housing, the American Red Cross was contacted to provide emergency assistance. The agency helped six neighbors and the affected resident secure temporary shelter and support.
