Erling Haaland’s recent shopping trip to a Dallas Western wear store has triggered a significant increase in sales and online attention. The Norwegian football star visited Wild Bill’s Western Store in the West End area of downtown Dallas shortly after his national team secured a World Cup victory at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday.
Haaland and several teammates entered the shop, where owners Cody and Julie Newport had prepared by roping off a section of the floor. According to the owners, Haaland had no prior knowledge of cowboy hats and was fitted by staff while seated. He purchased multiple hats, exotic boots, and a longhorn belt buckle. He also bought a t-shirt with the phrase "Y’all can kiss my Dallas" and had his initials and jersey number branded onto his items.
The visit was documented through social media posts by Haaland, which have garnered millions of views and likes. This exposure has resulted in a rapid depletion of stock at the physical location. The viral t-shirt is nearly sold out, with online orders continuing to arrive. The store is currently awaiting a new shipment of the shirts, which is scheduled to arrive this Thursday to restock the racks.
The owners noted a shift in their customer base following the event. While they typically serve a clientele that is 90% tourists, they have begun seeing an influx of shoppers from North Texas. Julie Newport recalled that Haaland mentioned this was the only time he would have in Dallas, and the couple ensured he had a positive experience. Cody Newport stated that the visit allowed them to showcase southern hospitality to the athlete.
Dallas is about 31 miles east of Fort Worth.
