Eric Titues III, 19, faces a murder charge in connection with the death of his stepfather, Kendrick Malone, 40, inside a home in northwest Fort Worth. The incident occurred late Tuesday evening, according to an affidavit supporting the arrest warrant.
Police records indicate that a physical altercation between the married couple preceded the shooting. The wife, whose name is redacted in court documents, told Homicide Unit Detective Norman Abrams that the dispute involved pushing, shoving, kicking, and open-hand strikes from both parties. She stated that the conflict stemmed from an argument over infidelity.
As the confrontation escalated, Malone sent their youngest child to the upstairs area of the house.
The wife described being at the head of the bed, preparing to lie down, when she turned to see Titues standing in the bedroom doorway. At that moment, she observed him fire a weapon at Malone. Malone was standing near the foot of the bed at the time. Following the shot, Malone fell to the ground, according to the wife’s account provided to detectives.
The wife stated she had not seen Titues earlier in the evening. After the shooting, Titues left the residence located in the 6300 block of Sloop Street around 10:30 p.m. He remained at large until Wednesday afternoon, when his defense attorney, Lesa Pamplin, surrendered him to Fort Worth police at 5:15 p.m.
