Fort Worth police have taken a man into custody in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on July 1. Authorities arrested Mack Simpson, 47, on Thursday, according to online jail records. Simpson is charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

The crash resulted in the death of Jose Alfredo Aguilar Candela, who was 37 years old. Medical examiner records indicate that Candela died in the side yard of a home located near the intersection of Travis and West Baltimore avenues. The incident took place on the evening of July 1.

A GoFundMe page established to cover funeral expenses for Candela describes him as a devoted father and hardworking man. The campaign notes that he was the primary provider for his family and leaves behind a wife and four children.
