The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has appointed Brayden Garcia as its new entertainment reporter, a role that marks a shift from his previous duties within the newsroom. Garcia joined the publication in 2022, initially working on the service journalism team where he covered practical local topics such as weather updates, road closures, restaurant openings, and legal explanations.
During his four years with the newspaper, Garcia occasionally wrote entertainment pieces, including stories about celebrity sightings and news related to creator Taylor Sheridan. As production activity increased in the area, his coverage expanded to include details about television series filmed in the region, such as "Landman" and "Lioness." The newspaper states that film and television production continues to grow in Fort Worth, prompting the creation of this dedicated beat.
In his new position, Garcia will cover all aspects of entertainment in the region, extending beyond Fort Worth city limits. His reporting will include updates on current filming locations, traffic impacts caused by production crews, and information on how residents can participate in casting processes. He also plans to interview celebrities and examine how the entertainment industry affects local businesses.
Garcia indicated that his coverage will not be limited to major studio productions. He stated he is interested in smaller projects created by local filmmakers in North Texas, regardless of the budget size. He invited readers, filmmakers, and the general public to submit story ideas or tips via email at bgarcia@star-telegram.com or through a form on the newspaper's website.
