Fort Worth police are investigating two separate officer-involved shootings that occurred less than 24 hours apart, resulting in the deaths of two individuals in unrelated incidents.
The first incident took place shortly after 8 p.m. in south Fort Worth near the South Freeway. Officers were searching for an individual with a felony warrant who was accused of tampering with an ankle monitor. After locating the person, police attempted a traffic stop, which escalated into a pursuit.
The pursuit ended in a parking lot, where the individual allegedly pulled out what officers believed to be a firearm. Police stated they fired their weapons in response, killing the person.
The second shooting occurred just after 6 a.m. in west Fort Worth. Officers responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment complex after reports indicated a man had broken through a front door and was fighting with a woman.
According to police, the man held a knife to his own throat and walked toward officers without stopping after they issued commands. Officers shot and killed him.
