A reported shooting in Johnson County was determined to be a false call, county officials said. Dallas is about 31 miles east of Fort Worth.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received the report at about 8:30 a.m. Monday. Deputies responded to County Road 1230, where they found the people there safe. They also found no indication a shooting had taken place.
Officials said the report had characteristics of a swatting incident. In such an incident, a person makes a false report to bring a substantial law enforcement response to a location without the occupants’ knowledge. WFAA reported the officials’ statement.
