Fort Worth City Center has announced it will cease hosting its annual 9/11 Tower Climb. The organization cited recent property improvements and logistical challenges as the primary reasons for ending the tradition.
In a public statement, organizers explained that enhancements made to the site have altered accessibility and event logistics. These changes, they said, would prevent them from delivering the safe and smooth experience expected by participants and supporters.
"This decision was not made lightly, but we believe it is the right one given the changes taking place on our property," the organization stated in its announcement. The group also expressed gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors, and community members who have supported the event over the years.
The annual gathering typically united first responders and local residents to honor those killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Participants climb stairs as a tribute to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, and others who lost their lives during the events.
It remains unclear whether the Fort Worth event will relocate to a different site or if another organization might assume responsibility for continuing the climb in the city.
