Antoine Stevenson, 30, was sworn in Friday as a new member of the Fort Worth Police Department, completing his graduation alongside fellow recruits. This event marks a unique family milestone, as he now serves alongside his father, Sgt. Dana Stevenson, and his younger brother, Koby Stevenson, who is 29 years old.
Prior to joining the Fort Worth force, Antoine served with the Keller Police Department before being recruited to the city department. His father has been with the Fort Worth Police Department for more than 25 years, having graduated from the police academy in 2001. At that time, his sons were young children, ages five and four respectively.
The brothers shared a close bond growing up, participating in sports and wearing matching outfits during their youth. They later wore identical football uniforms while in high school and college. Koby expressed hope that Antoine would eventually join the department, noting that they are now effectively on a team again.
Sgt. Dana Stevenson described the experience of watching his son take the oath as surreal and emotional. He stated he was at a loss for words but identified himself as his son's biggest supporter. He also noted the value of having family members beside him in the line of duty.
