A collision involving a Fort Worth police cruiser and a civilian vehicle occurred Thursday night after an intoxicated driver failed to yield at an intersection, according to city officials.
Authorities stated that the police officers were traveling through the intersection with emergency lights and sirens activated when the other driver did not stop, leading to the impact. The driver of the civilian vehicle was determined to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Law enforcement took the intoxicated driver into custody. The individual was first transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment before being moved to the Tarrant County jail. Officials have not yet released the name of the driver involved in the crash.
The two Fort Worth police officers involved in the incident were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Both officers were cleared and released from care. There were no reports of serious injuries to the law enforcement personnel.
