Fort Worth residents with active water accounts will see new garbage and environmental protection charges take effect Thursday, Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 29 city notice.
The monthly residential garbage charge will be $16.50 for each 32-gallon cart, $23.40 for each 64-gallon cart and $30.90 for each 96-gallon cart. The amount depends on the household’s cart size.
The city says those charges cover garbage, recycling, yard-waste and bulk-waste collection, along with access to its four drop-off stations and Environmental Collection Center. Residents will find the charge on their water bills under Sanitation/Solid Waste Fees.
A separate monthly environmental protection fee will be $2.50 for a single-family residential account, $3.33 for a residential duplex account and $2.50 per unit for multifamily properties with more than two units.
That fee supports services including illegal-dumping cleanup, litter control and street sweeping. It appears on water bills as Environmental Protection Fees.
