Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth will undertake a significant expansion of its women’s health services and neonatal intensive care unit, according to an announcement by Texas Health Resources on Monday.
The project involves adding four stories to the John and Jane Justin Tower, located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. This addition will house a relocated and enlarged women’s services center. The new facility will include dedicated operating rooms, as well as rooms for labor and delivery, the nursery, antepartum care, postpartum care, and gynecology.
Josh Floren, chief operating officer of Texas Health’s Hospital Channel, described the project as an investment in the community’s health and future. He stated that the expansion supports expectant mothers and newborns by providing specialized treatment locally, reducing the need for families to travel for critical care.
The construction scope also includes 71 new patient rooms and a Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit. This unit is designed for patients who are not stable enough for a general medical-surgical floor but do not require intensive care.
The Justin Tower will remain open throughout the construction process. Officials expect the tower expansion to be completed in 2029.
A separate expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit, located in the Jones Tower, is scheduled to begin after the Justin Tower project concludes. This phase will add 32 new beds and is expected to open in 2030.
