Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance in Alliance, Texas, has received a renewal of its Primary Stroke Center certification from the Joint Commission. The hospital first achieved this national designation four years ago and continues to hold the credential through a collaboration with the American Heart Association.
The certification recognizes the facility for providing consistent neurological care to residents in Northeast Tarrant County and surrounding communities. Tracy Payne Martinez, president of Texas Health Alliance, stated that the hospital treats over 50,000 patients annually. She noted that families travel from North Fort Worth, Haslet, Justin, and Roanoke to access the hospital's services.
Martinez described the certification as a confirmation of the hospital's dedication to promoting healthy habits and empowering patients with recovery resources. Ally Peterson, the stroke program coordinator, added that the facility provides nationally recognized care immediately upon patient arrival and offers ongoing rehabilitation support after discharge.
The hospital's medical staff utilizes advanced diagnostic and treatment technology to manage stroke cases. A dedicated response team supports these efforts, comprising emergency department physicians, neurologists, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, CT technologists, pharmacists, phlebotomists, and laboratory technicians.
Primary Stroke Center standards require hospitals to maintain access to advanced imaging, an inpatient stroke unit, and staff with specialized competencies for acute care. The certification covers the entire spectrum of stroke management, including diagnosis, education, rehabilitation, and treatment.
According to the American Heart Association, stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in both the United States and Texas. Texas Health operates three Comprehensive Stroke Centers and eight Primary Stroke Centers across the state, including the Alliance facility.
Peterson develops patient-focused resources to support recovery and assist medical staff in delivering care. She emphasized a culture of excellence and the provision of comprehensive rehabilitation services and support groups. Martinez stated that the hospital works to increase stroke awareness and maintain a long-term connection with the growing community.
