Texas Health Resources has formally announced plans to construct a new medical campus in Forney, which will serve as the city’s first full-service acute-care hospital. The facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2027 and will be located along the U.S. 80 corridor at Reeder Road, adjacent to The Village at Gateway commercial development.
The project aims to provide comprehensive medical services to local residents, reducing the need for travel to Dallas or Mesquite for critical care. The hospital will feature a 24/7 emergency department, maternal and newborn health services including a neonatal intensive care unit, and advanced surgical capabilities with robotic technology. Additional specialized services will include cardiology with a catheterization lab, orthopedic care, and advanced diagnostic imaging.
Beyond the hospital structure, the campus will include an 80,000-square-foot professional office building designed to house community providers and specialists. This integration is intended to anchor a new medical district in the area. Texas Health stated that the design reflects local heritage and supports its broader commitment to expanding primary, urgent, and behavioral health access across Kaufman County.
The location at the intersection of U.S. 80 and Reeder Road is a high-traffic zone. The addition of the medical facility is expected to increase demand for road improvements and traffic management strategies to ensure efficient access for emergency vehicles and patients.
The organization anticipates creating numerous healthcare jobs in the area, though specific employment numbers have not yet been provided. Texas Health is encouraging interested job seekers to monitor openings at jobs.texashealth.org. Medical professionals interested in joining the team are asked to email businessgrowth@texashealth.org. Leasing inquiries for the available medical office space can be directed to (214) 345-8448.
