Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has announced a significant infrastructure project to broaden its women’s health offerings and neonatal intensive care capabilities. The initiative involves adding four stories to the John and Jane Justin Tower, located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. This vertical expansion will house a relocated and enlarged women’s services center.
The new facility will contain dedicated operating rooms, labor and delivery suites, a nursery, and rooms for antepartum, postpartum, and gynecology care.
The project also includes the construction of 71 additional patient rooms and a Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit. This specialized unit is designed for patients who require more monitoring than a general medical-surgical floor provides but do not need intensive care. Josh Floren, chief operating officer of Texas Health’s Hospital Channel, described the project as an investment in the community’s health and future.
He noted that the expansion allows families to receive specialized treatment locally without traveling far for critical care.
Construction on the Justin Tower is scheduled to continue while the tower remains operational. The hospital expects this phase of the project to be finished in 2029. Following the completion of the Justin Tower work, the facility will begin expanding its neonatal intensive care unit located in the Jones Tower. This subsequent phase will add 32 new beds and is projected to open in 2030.
