The ranch country in Paramount+'s most-watched series launch is the ranch country west of Fort Worth.
"Dutton Ranch," the "Yellowstone" sequel starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, filmed its first season across North Texas from August 2025 through March 2026, with Fort Worth among its locations and much of the ranch work shot in the small towns beyond it: Boyd in Wise County, Weatherford in Parker County, Mineral Wells, and Cleburne, Grandview and Rio Vista to the south.
Ferris, southeast of Dallas, and Dallas itself round out the location list.
On screen, all of it stands in for Rio Paloma, a fictional South Texas town where Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler take over a 7,000-acre spread and run up against a rival ranch. The landscapes audiences are watching are Parker, Wise and Johnson county grassland.
The season premiered May 15, 2026, with two episodes, ran weekly through nine episodes, and finished July 3. All nine are streaming on Paramount+, which reported 12.9 million global viewers in the first week, the biggest original series launch in the service's history. The premiere also drew 2.9 million viewers on Paramount Network, the biggest cable series premiere since 2023.
Alongside Reilly and Hauser, the cast includes Finn Little, Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Juan Pablo Raba, Josh Stewart and J.R. Villarreal. Chad Feehan created the series and ran the first season.
