Fort Worth-based American Airlines announced Oct. 6 that it plans to build its largest Admirals Club lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

The airline said the new space will cover more than 40,000 square feet on the mezzanine level of the airport's atrium. Construction is expected to begin this year.

Plans include shower suites, bars and areas for meals, work and rest. American said its existing Charlotte lounges will stay open during construction.

The project follows the airline's 2025 announcement of additional lounge space at Charlotte, including a separate Flagship lounge.
