Fort Worth, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott on July 29 attended the ribbon-cutting of Bob's House of Hope in the Denton County town of Justin, touring a facility organizers call the country's first safe house built solely for grown men who survived human trafficking.
The facility, operated by Ranch Hands Rescue, offers a protected home environment with trauma-informed counseling and services designed for men who lived through commercial sexual exploitation, a group the governor's office says has few dedicated recovery options anywhere in the country.
"Texas leads the nation in the fight against trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children," Abbott said, calling the safe house a care model worth copying nationwide.
Abbott used the visit to point to anti-trafficking measures he recently signed into law. Those bills make every trafficking crime a first-degree felony, end parole eligibility for traffickers whose victims were children or disabled, and hand law enforcement and prosecutors added tools.
