Fort Worth, Texas — Gilmer's Ismael Camara, a five-star offensive tackle, committed to the Texas Longhorns on July 4, giving the program a cornerstone piece for its 2027 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 20 overall and the third-best tackle in the country.

At 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, Camara selected Texas from a group of ten finalists that featured Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Born in France, he relocated to Gilmer and suited up for his first varsity football campaign last autumn, collecting close to forty offers.

Camara is the 22nd member of the Longhorns 2027 class and the fifth along the offensive line, joining a unit recruited by Kyle Flood. The class sits at No. 4 in the national team rankings following his decision.

Scouts praise Camara's combination of size, mobility, and physicality despite his relatively brief time playing the sport. He lined up at left tackle, on the defensive line, and on special teams during the 2025 season and will shoulder a broader role as a senior.

The Longhorns have been on a roll on the trail, with four-star corner Brandon Sherrard committing July 1 and the 2027 group holding a top-five national ranking.
