Tarrant County voters cast 50,409 ballots in person on Monday, Oct. 19, the opening day of early voting ahead of the Nov. 3 joint general and special elections, according to a daily totals report the Tarrant County Elections Administration posted Tuesday morning.

That is far more than the opening day of the last midterm. Citing Texas Secretary of State data, NBC 5 reported that 29,197 Tarrant County residents voted on early voting's opening day in 2022, while 58,487 did so when early voting opened for the 2024 presidential race. Monday's count falls between those two marks.

Where Fort Worth voted

The county had 47 early voting sites open Monday. Sixteen of them have Fort Worth addresses on the county's early voting schedule, and those 16 logged 14,629 voters combined, a sum this site calculated from the county's site-by-site report. Registered Tarrant County voters may use any early voting location in the county.

The busiest sites with Fort Worth addresses were:

  • Dionne Phillips Bagsby Southwest Subcourthouse, 6551 Granbury Road: 1,716
  • Tarrant County Plaza Building, 201 Burnett St.: 1,330
  • Northpark YMCA, 9100 N. Beach St.: 1,301
  • Handley-Meadowbrook Community Center, 6201 Beaty St.: 1,282
  • Como Community Center, 4660 Horne St.: 1,186

Across the whole county, the Euless Family Life Senior Center drew the most voters at 1,803, with Southlake Town Hall second at 1,752. The Southwest Subcourthouse ranked third countywide.

Mail ballots

A separate county report dated Oct. 19 shows the elections office had sent 26,287 ballots by mail and received 11,936 back, including 1,248 returned on Monday. The county's schedule says applications for a mail ballot must be submitted by Oct. 23.

Elsewhere in North Texas

Neighboring counties also reported first-day counts above 2022 levels. Dallas County's unofficial report shows 76,243 in-person voters on Monday. NBC 5 reported 34,739 in Denton County and 34,522 in Collin County, where the county election commissioner confirmed ballot printer problems at roughly 10 sites on Monday morning before service was restored, according to the station.

Remaining days and hours

Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30. Under the county schedule, sites are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 23; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30.
