Paschal went through its entire district schedule without dropping a set. Friday night it starts finding out whether that carries into the playoffs.

The Panthers meet Mansfield Legacy at 6:30 p.m. at Arlington High School in a Class 5A Division I bi-district match, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's pairings. Paschal is 26-14 and went 14-0 in district play without losing a set, 42 sets in all, according to its MaxPreps schedule.

It has won 16 straight since a Sept. 1 loss to Aledo, including a sweep of Class 6A Granbury in its final tune-up Monday.

Legacy brings a 24-16 record by the Star-Telegram's count; MaxPreps lists the Broncos at 25-16.

The winner advances to the area round against the winner of Keller Fossil Ridge (18-22) and Denton Ryan (24-15), who play at the same hour at Ponder High School.

A difficult Thursday

The Panthers and Carter-Riverside are the only Fort Worth ISD teams still alive. Four other FWISD teams played Thursday and none advanced, according to results compiled by the Star-Telegram and MaxPreps.

The longest streak to end belonged to a Class 4A team. Southwest entered at 27-5 with a 14-0 district record and a 15-match winning streak that dated to early September, but Springtown swept the Raiders 25-16, 25-17, 25-9. Southwest's previous loss had come Sept. 1 against Chisholm Trail.

Thursday's other area results were also decided in three sets:

  • Burleson, now 37-7, beat Arlington Heights 25-10, 25-16, 25-15 in 5A Division I. The Yellow Jackets finish 23-18.
  • Joshua (32-6) handled North Side 25-7, 25-8, 25-14 in 5A Division II.
  • Mansfield Timberview (26-15) defeated Everman 25-10, 25-5, 25-17. Timberview reached the bracket through a five-set seeding playoff win over Burleson Centennial.
  • In 4A Division I, Decatur beat Eastern Hills 25-6, 25-9, 25-11.

Chisholm Trail of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD did not reach the bracket after losing a District 5-5A seeding match to Azle in five sets, the last one 15-12.

Two more Friday matches with Fort Worth ties

Eagle Mountain, at 33-7, faces Prosper Richland (25-12) at 6 p.m. at Keller Timber Creek High School in 5A Division II. A win would send the Knights to the area round against Joshua, which allowed 29 points in its three-set opener.

In 4A Division II, Carter-Riverside (16-19) travels to Iowa Park (24-9) for a 5 p.m. match. Lubbock Liberty, a straight-set winner over Glen Rose on Thursday, awaits the winner.

What follows

UIL's calendar puts area matches on Nov. 2-3 and regional semifinals Nov. 5-7, with the state tournament Nov. 19-21 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

Three of Paschal's district opponents, North Side, Arlington Heights and Everman, also reached the bracket, and all three lost Thursday. The Panthers swept each of them twice during the regular season. A win over Legacy would put Paschal in the area round for a matchup with Fossil Ridge or Ryan next week.
