Decisive Fourth Quarter Seals Win
No. 13 Texas Tech defeated Oregon State 35-24 on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. The Red Raiders (2-0) overcame a resilient Beaver defense and a late field goal to secure their second consecutive win, while the home team fell to 0-2.
The game began scoreless through the first quarter before Texas Tech seized control in the second period. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos provided the initial momentum with a 7-yard run, followed by Stone Harrington’s kick, giving Tech a 7-0 lead. Oregon State responded quickly as Braden Atkinson connected with Jesse Legree on a 75-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7.
However, Texas Tech reclaimed the advantage before halftime when Cameron Dickey scored on a 1-yard run, making it 14-7.
Second-Half Surge and Beaver Rally
Oregon State closed the gap in the third quarter. AJ Newberry threw a 4-yard pass to Braden Atkinson, who ran for a two-point conversion, cutting the deficit to 14-13. Texas Tech answered immediately with J'Koby Williams breaking loose for a 38-yard touchdown run, restoring the seven-point lead at 21-13.
The Beavers tied the game late in the third quarter when Atkinson threw a 37-yard pass to Legree, followed by an Atkinson two-point conversion run, making the score 21-21. The momentum shifted slightly toward Oregon State early in the fourth quarter when Caleb Ojeda kicked a 34-yard field goal, giving the Beavers their first lead of the game at 24-21.
