Fort Worth, Texas — The Texas men’s basketball program signed Marcus Spears Jr. for 2026-27 after the forward moved from the Class of 2027 to the 2026 class, Texas announced Friday.
Texas said Spears had been the top-rated prospect in the 2027 class. ESPN’s updated 2026 rankings place him No. 4 nationally.
Spears, a 6-foot-10 forward from Frisco, averaged 15.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks as a junior at Dynamic Prep, according to the university.
Texas competes in the SEC and has statewide fan interest, including in Fort Worth. The July 10 signing is a recruiting development, not a game recap.
