Dalton Schultz, the tight end for the Houston Texans, was absent from all three preseason games leading up to the 2026 season. Alongside Schultz, offensive starters such as wide receiver Nico Collins and running back David Montgomery also did not take the field during the preseason. Quarterback C.J. Stroud had limited playing time, notably appearing briefly against the Raiders on August 20.

Schultz is coming off a successful 2025 regular season, where he achieved a career-high 82 receptions and recorded 777 receiving yards, marking his best performance since the 2021 season with the Dallas Cowboys.

With fellow players Jayden Higgins (knee) set to miss the entire 2026 season and Tank Dell (knee) starting the season on injured reserve, Schultz and Collins are expected to be primary targets for Stroud in the upcoming games.

Further details regarding Schultz's absence from the preseason games have not yet been provided.
