The TCU Horned Frogs have officially included the Northwestern State Demons in their 2028 football schedule. The game is set to take place at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, September 2, 2028. TCU will provide a $600,000 guarantee to Northwestern State for participating in the matchup, as detailed in a contract obtained through a public records request.
This upcoming game marks the second meeting between TCU and Northwestern State in football, with their only previous encounter occurring in 2001, when the Demons defeated the Horned Frogs 27-24 in overtime.
Northwestern State University, based in Natchitoches, Louisiana, competes in the Southland Conference within the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Currently, the Demons are led by head coach Blaine McCorkle and have started their season with two losses against Louisiana Christian and Louisiana Tech.
The addition of Northwestern State completes TCU's non-conference schedule for the 2028 season. Prior to facing the Demons, TCU will open their season at home against Louisiana on August 26 and will visit Duke on September 9.
The Big 12 Conference has yet to announce the specific conference opponents for the 2028 season, but TCU is expected to have five home games and four road games that year.
