The Dallas Cowboys have moved linebackers Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron from the practice squad to the active roster for their Week 2 home opener against the Washington Commanders. Both players also have special teams experience, according to Blogging The Boys.
The roster moves come as DeMarvion Overshown deals with a hamstring injury. The Cowboys expect him to miss time, but the length of his absence has not been specified. Rather than add a veteran, Dallas chose to use two practice-squad elevations for the matchup.
Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham is expected to wear the defensive communication device known as the green dot while Overshown is unavailable. The Cowboys are coming off a 28-20 loss to the New York Giants in Week 1.
Overshown was among three Dallas players fined by the NFL after that game. The league fined him $9,527 for a late hit on Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. Javonte Williams received an $11,941 fine for taunting, while outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 for a facemask penalty.
Dallas also faces questions in the middle of its defense against Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders offense. The linebackers and safeties were identified as areas that will be tested after the unit struggled against New York, while defensive tackle play also drew concern.
