This decision follows To'oTo'o's shoulder injury sustained late in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Reports indicate that To'oTo'o is expected to miss several months, significantly impacting the team's run defense.
E.J. Speed, another linebacker, is already sidelined for the entire 2026 season due to a severe quadriceps tear suffered during a workout in May. Jake Hummel, who injured his groin in Week 1, is currently listed as week-to-week.
With To'oTo'o's absence, special teams player Jake Hansen is anticipated to step into a starting linebacker role alongside Pro Bowler Azeez Al-Shaair. Hansen filled in for To'oTo'o during the latter part of the previous game, recording seven defensive snaps.
Wade Woodaz may also take on the No. 3 linebacker position, although he did not participate in defensive plays during Week 1 due to a thumb injury that required surgery. Woodaz has been practicing with a protective brace.
Additionally, seventh-round draft pick Aidan Fisher could be activated for Week 2 after being a healthy scratch, and Jamal Hill may be promoted from the practice squad to bolster the roster.
