North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will lead the team as the starting quarterback for the season. Jackson, who played for Indiana University for two years from 2023 to 2024, is set to face his former team in their first regular season game on September 5 against the No. 6 ranked Indiana University at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
A Greenwood, Indiana native, Jackson had an impressive high school career at Center Grove before playing at multiple colleges. He spent the 2022 season with the Tennessee football program and later moved to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season. During his tenure at UCF, he recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, achieving 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Jackson's ties to IU are strong, as he is the younger sibling of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former basketball player for the Hoosiers. Trayce has announced his plans to attend the game in support of his brother. This matchup will be IU's first since they celebrated their national championship victory in January.
