Nico Collins is expected to miss the Houston Texans’ Week 3 game because of a hamstring injury, but he may be back when the team plays the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Collins has a reasonable possibility of returning for the matchup with Dallas.
Collins has appeared in one game for Houston this season, the Texans’ Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He recorded seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in that game.
Dallas also has injury questions on defense. Cornerback Cobie Durant and safeties Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke will not all be available for the Cowboys’ Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil. Their availability for the later meeting with Houston had not been determined in the report.
The Cowboys are currently relying on DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel at cornerback. Dallas entered Week 3 ranked 17th in the NFL in pass defense, giving up 218 yards per game. Caleb Downs was identified as a recent addition who has contributed in the secondary.
Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud has taken the Texans to the playoffs, including a previous season in which the team advanced before losing to the New England Patriots. The report also mentioned a possible Dallas trade for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., though it did not indicate that a deal had been completed.
