The Dallas Cowboys reportedly signed running back Tyler Goodson after Malik Davis suffered a hip injury that requires surgery and will end his season. The move was reported Tuesday by Aaron Wilson, a Houston television reporter.
Goodson spent the past three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, appearing in 33 games. He carried the ball 54 times for 264 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt, and also played 304 special-teams snaps during the last two seasons. Indianapolis released him before he joined the Atlanta Falcons for training camp.
Atlanta later cut him, and Goodson returned to the Falcons’ practice squad after clearing waivers before the Cowboys acquired him.
The 25-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2023 before moving to Indianapolis. Wilson identified him as a former Iowa standout and reported that Goodson finished his college career with 1,151 rushing yards and six touchdowns in his final season.
Wilson also listed him at 5 feet 9 inches and 200 pounds, noted his selection to an All-Big Ten team and reported a 4.42-second 40-yard dash.
