The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Nico Collins when they play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Houston officially listed Collins as out because of a hamstring injury, according to an update reported by sports.yahoo.com.
Collins sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain during practice last week. He missed Houston’s 20-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and did not practice during the week before the Colts game, leaving him unavailable for a second straight contest.
The Texans are 0-2 after scoring six points against Cincinnati. Indianapolis also enters the AFC South matchup at 0-2. Collins’ absence removes Houston’s leading receiving threat and increases the responsibilities for quarterback C.J. Stroud and the team’s remaining offensive players.
Dalton Schultz could again receive a larger role after catching 12 passes for 140 yards on 14 targets against the Bengals. Eight of those receptions came in the fourth quarter, and Schultz leads Houston through two games with 16 catches for 175 yards.
Houston could also use more tight ends or seek additional production from its running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks combined to help the Texans average 1.5 yards per carry from their running backs against Cincinnati. The Colts have given up 354 rushing yards at an average of 5.4 yards per carry through two games, while Indianapolis has allowed 1,029 total yards.
