Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino sustained a leg injury during Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M, and coach Dave Aranda confirmed afterward that the fifth-year senior will not return this season.
The injury occurred on Baylor’s second offensive snap when a Prairie View A&M lineman made a cut block on Tezino. He called for medical assistance immediately and was later taken from the field by cart. Aranda said the injury resembled the one Travion Barnes suffered the previous year.
Tezino, who is from Killeen, had opened the season with two sacks against Auburn. He also deflected a pass in that game that resulted in an interception.
In 2025, injuries limited Tezino, but he appeared in each of Baylor’s 12 games and started seven. He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup. Over 29 games with the Bears, he has made 56 tackles.
Baylor has considerable depth along its defensive front, but Tezino is the second starting defender the team has lost for the season. Safety Jacob Redding is also out with a season-ending injury.
