Baylor has extended a basketball offer to Bear Acy, a five-star recruit ranked No. 7 nationally among prospects in the 2029 class. Acy’s decision has not yet been announced.
Acy is the son of Quincy Acy, who played forward for Baylor from 2008 through 2012. The elder Acy was recognized on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for the 2011-12 season and was known during his college career for rebounding, finishing near the basket and blocking shots.
Bear Acy is listed at 6 feet 7 inches and is described as having the size and length to contribute on both ends of the court. Those physical tools could allow him to disrupt passes, block shots and play near the basket while also contributing offensively.
A Baylor commitment would give coach Scott Drew an opportunity to coach a second generation of the Acy family. Drew coached Quincy Acy during each of his four seasons with the Bears after taking over as Baylor’s head coach in 2003. Before that, Drew worked as an assistant under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew, at Valparaiso.
The offer comes while Bear Acy is still several years from his projected college season. The source described Baylor’s offer as unlikely to be the only one Acy receives, but no other offers or details about his recruitment were provided.
