DJ Lagway is set to make his debut as the starting quarterback for Baylor as they face Auburn in a neutral-site game in Atlanta during Week 1 of the college football season.

Baylor concluded the previous season with a 5-7 record, finishing with a loss to Houston, while Auburn also ended their season at 5-7 after a defeat by Alabama. In their last games, Baylor lost 31-24 to Houston, and Auburn fell 27-20 to Alabama.

For Baylor, Sawyer Robertson had a notable season with 3,681 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, completing 60.3% of his passes. Bryson Washington contributed significantly on the ground with 788 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns, while Josh Cameron led the receiving corps with 872 yards and 9 touchdowns on 69 receptions.
