A football player from Texas Christian University (TCU) was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed after an alleged attack by a teammate. The incident reportedly occurred on August 13 in the locker room when former TCU safety Jacob Fields allegedly punched wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the forehead and kicked him in the head.

Following the altercation, Ezukanma was diagnosed with a brain bleed, a concussion, and a strained AC joint.

Fields has since been removed from the team and turned himself in to authorities on Sunday. According to an arrest affidavit, Ezukanma indicated that he believed the attack stemmed from competition during practice, stating that Fields felt he was performing better.

Ezukanma also shared text messages from Fields after the incident, in which Fields expressed regret, stating, "I made an emotional decision cause of how I felt played the last few practices" and offered to cover Ezukanma's hospital bills.

Ezukanma's family reported that he is recovering and eager to return to the field once medically cleared. His sister, Emelie Ezukanma, emphasized the importance of accountability in the situation. Meanwhile, TCU is addressing the incident while also focusing on the team's performance, having recently lost their first game of the season.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes commented on the team's ability to handle distractions, expressing pride in how the players have responded.

A representative for Fields stated that he has legal counsel and will allow the legal process to unfold, indicating that there will be a time to present the facts and the truth about the situation. The ongoing investigation into the incident continues as TCU moves forward with its season.
