Kennard leads Phoenix

Luke Kennard scored 20 points, and the Phoenix Suns held on to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 102-98 on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026. Phoenix, playing at home, improved to 1-2, while San Antonio fell to 0-2.

The Suns established control early, taking a 35-25 lead after the first quarter. Kennard connected on three 3-pointers in the opening period and added a layup and a pullup jumper as Phoenix built its advantage. Jalen Green contributed five assists for the Suns, while Khaman Maluach finished with 15 rebounds.

Spurs narrow the gap

San Antonio answered in the second quarter, outscoring Phoenix 26-23. The Spurs cut the deficit to seven points at halftime, with the Suns leading 58-51. Dylan Harper scored 15 points for San Antonio, and Victor Wembanyama recorded six assists. Luke Kornet had 10 rebounds for the Spurs.

Phoenix restored some separation in the third quarter. The Suns scored 27 points to San Antonio’s 22, taking an 85-73 lead into the final period. Kennard made another 3-pointer in the third, while Maluach also hit from beyond the arc during the quarter.

Phoenix withstands fourth-quarter push

San Antonio produced its strongest scoring quarter of the game in the fourth, putting up 25 points. Phoenix scored 17, allowing the Spurs to reduce the margin to four points by the final buzzer.

Maliq Brown made two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for San Antonio, including one that brought the Spurs within 102-98. The Suns, however, held their lead through the closing stretch. Duop Reath scored four fourth-quarter points for Phoenix, including the basket that gave the Suns a 102-90 advantage.

The game was played at Mortgage Matchup Center, with an announced attendance of 17,071. Phoenix is now 1-2, and San Antonio is 0-2.
