Fort Worth-area high school football Week 1 results and schedule

Fort Worth-area high school teams completed their first games of the season on Thursday, with a full slate of Friday matchups scheduled for the following evening.

The opening week of high school football in the Fort Worth region concluded with a series of non-district contests played on Thursday, August 27. Results varied across the area, with several local programs securing decisive victories over opponents from neighboring districts.

Among the notable outcomes, Wichita Falls Memorial defeated Fort Worth Paschal 54-34, while Fort Worth Wyatt beat Dallas Lincoln 47-30. Frisco also recorded a 47-14 win over Carrollton Smith. In other matchups, Fort Worth Carter-Riverside edged Dallas Jefferson 30-21, and Arlington took down Trophy Club Byron Nelson 38-22. Southlake Carroll narrowly won against Jenks from Oklahoma, 34-33.

Other Thursday results included Frisco Rock Hill beating Arlington Bowie 19-13, and Garland Lakeview Centennial defeating Grand Prairie 38-0. Hurst L.D. Bell won 27-7 against Rowlett, while Dallas Adams defeated Irving Nimitz 42-35. Fort Worth Arlington Heights beat Mansfield Legacy 40-9, and Denton won 41-0 against Frisco Centennial.

Garland Naaman Forest defeated Keller Fossil Ridge 28-13, and Benbrook beat Fort Worth Trimble Tech 42-34. The Colony won 32-14 over Dallas Samuell, and Keller Central defeated Plano West 26-17. North Richland Hills Richland beat Frisco Wakeland 42-7, while North Richland Hills Birdville won 40-22 against Waco.

A large number of games are scheduled for Friday, August 28, with most kickoff times set for 7 p.m. Central. One exception is a 9 a.m. Central matchup between Grapevine Faith Christian and Huntersville (NC) Ambassador Christian, which will be played in Dublin, Ireland. Other Friday contests include Aledo versus North Crowley at Crowley ISD Stadium, and Little Elm facing Arlington Lamar at Maverick Stadium.

Additional Friday games feature North Mesquite against Arlington Sam Houston at Choctaw Stadium, and Arlington Martin playing Mansfield at Anderson Stadium. Granbury will host Cleburne at Yellow Jacket Stadium, while Burleson Centennial faces Weatherford at Kangaroo Stadium. Saginaw is scheduled to play at Fort Worth Boswell, and Denton Ryan will face Haslet Eaton at Northwest ISD Stadium.
