A man was shot and killed by a security guard Wednesday night at La Gran Plaza in south Fort Worth after the guard saw him smashing the glass of a jewelry kiosk, police said.
Officers were called to the shopping center, off South Freeway near Seminary Drive, at about 8:38 p.m. According to police, the man was striking the kiosk's glass cases with a blunt object when an armed guard working at the center spotted him and opened fire, hitting him at least once.
Police said the man ran across the parking lot and collapsed near Seminary Drive. Officers began lifesaving efforts, but he died there.
No police officers fired their weapons, and no one else was hurt, police said. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
