The Texas Rangers announced a series of roster moves on July 2, 2026, just before their upcoming game against the Detroit Tigers at Globe Life Field in Arlington. Arlington is located approximately 13 miles east of Fort Worth. The team selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Ben Peoples from Triple-A Round Rock and optioned right-hander Winston Santos to the same minor league club. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery’s rehabilitation assignment was transferred from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock.

Peoples, 25, is seeking his Major League debut after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox organization earlier in the week. He had not appeared in a game for Round Rock since the trade. In 29 relief appearances for Triple-A Charlotte this season, Peoples holds a 5-1 record with four saves and a 2.39 earned run average. He has struck out 45 batters while allowing 21 walks. Opposing hitters have a .156 batting average against him at this level, with right-handed batters hitting just .103. Peoples was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 22nd round of the 2019 draft and has spent most of his career in the Rays system before joining the White Sox in July 2025. He has worked exclusively as a reliever over the past two seasons.

Santos, 24, made his Major League debut on July 1 against Cleveland, pitching two innings and allowing two runs. He had spent the remainder of the season at Double-A Frisco, where he posted a 1-3 record and a 7.44 ERA in 11 starts. With these transactions, the Rangers have 39 players on their Major League roster and five on the 60-day injured list, including Carter Baumler, Cody Bradford, Robert Garcia, Montgomery, and Michael Helman.

Montgomery, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed in March 2025, is scheduled to start for Round Rock against Albuquerque. He has pitched three scoreless innings in two rehab appearances for Frisco. The Rangers also signed right-handed pitcher Austin Voth and infielder Santiago Espinal to minor league contracts. Voth, 34, recently spent time in Triple-A with Buffalo and St. Paul after being designated for assignment by Minnesota. He previously pitched in Japan’s Pacific League during the 2025 season.
