The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth forecasts that North Texas will approach triple-digit temperatures, with highs potentially hitting 100 degrees by Independence Day. Tuesday is expected to see a high of 97 degrees with a heat index reaching 100, accompanied by clear skies and light winds. The agency anticipates issuing an extreme heat advisory for the upcoming weekend as temperatures remain in the high 90s.

In addition to the rising heat, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality warns that a Saharan dust plume will affect the region this week. The dust is predicted to create hazy skies and lower air quality, potentially becoming unhealthy for sensitive groups. The agency advises children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma to monitor alerts and limit prolonged outdoor exposure. Forecasts indicate lows around 80 degrees and southerly winds of 10 to 15 mph through the end of the week.
