Presbyterian Night Shelter has issued an urgent request for contributions following a fire that destroyed a storage building on Sunday. The blaze, which occurred in the early morning hours, wiped out clothing, hygiene products, towels, and bed sheets that the organization had intended to distribute in the coming months.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident. However, the shelter stated that nothing could be saved from the storage facility. Staff members emphasized the need to quickly replace these essential items to ensure guests are prepared for the approaching winter season.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time. The shelter is currently accepting monetary donations through its website and has also established an Amazon wish list. Items on the list include diapers, menstrual hygiene products, underwear, sweatshirts, and winter coats.
In addition to new goods, the organization is accepting gently used clothing and household items. Donors can drop off these contributions at Greater Give at the Greater Good Collective, located at 2603 Cherry Lane. Drop-off hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
Presbyterian Night Shelter is situated just southeast of downtown Fort Worth. It serves as the largest provider of homeless services in Tarrant County, assisting more than 750 men, women, and children each night.
