LifeGift's annual 2nd Chance Run returns to the Fort Worth Stockyards on Saturday, Oct. 17, with a timed 5K and a 1-mile course.
The 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 1-mile at 7:45 a.m. on East Exchange Avenue, with on-site check-in opening at 6:30 a.m., according to the race's registration page. Anyone who cannot make it to the Stockyards can sign up for a virtual 5K or 1-mile instead.
The run honors organ, eye and tissue donors and their families. LifeGift, which puts on the event, serves 109 Texas counties across North, Southeast and West Texas, and uses the run to encourage people to sign up as donors.
Registration covers a custom event shirt, a medal, a race bib, a swag bag and admission to the race village, plus a timing chip for 5K runners. Virtual entrants get a shirt shipped to them. On race morning, participants can decorate donor remembrance yard signs in the village, and blank signs are also available at packet pickup on Oct. 16. Awards are set for 8:45 a.m.
