City staff report that four data centers are currently under development in Fort Worth. These facilities, which support digital infrastructure, have become a significant economic driver across North Texas. However, the accelerated pace of construction has sparked resident concerns regarding neighborhood impacts, local infrastructure, and resource usage.
Proposed rules aim to improve integration with surrounding communities by addressing noise from cooling systems, clarifying zoning allowances, and managing water consumption. Assistant City Manager Jesica McEachern noted that the speed of development has heightened public interest and concern over resource allocation. She stated that the new guidelines are intended to ensure future projects act as good neighbors.
Officials say community feedback will help shape how the city manages this sector moving forward.
