The Fort Worth Business Journal has added two new members to its editorial staff in preparation for its October launch. The publication, part of the American City Business Journals network, aims to serve as a primary source for business news in the region.

Julia Masters will serve as the editorial team lead, responsible for editing and reporting on key issues in Fort Worth and nearby cities. Prior to this role, Masters worked as a senior reporter for the Nashville Business Journal, a sister publication under the same ownership.

She joined the Nashville team in 2022 and holds a degree in journalism and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Samantha Thornfelt joins the team as a reporter with a focus on residential real estate and retail. A Texas native, Thornfelt previously worked as a freelance reporter for outlets including the Dallas Observer and the Dallas Morning News. She holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism from the University of North Texas.

Rob Daumeyer, vice president of news and content for American City Business Journals, described Masters as a journalist who integrates deeply into her community. He noted that her ability to explain business relevance is a key asset.

Regarding Thornfelt, Daumeyer highlighted her familiarity with the metro area and her skills in photography and multimedia, which he said will allow the newsroom to present stories in visually engaging formats.

Both new hires will be based in Fort Worth and are expected to meet regularly with local business and civic leaders. They join Senior Reporter Seth Bodine, who covers commercial real estate. Bodine has reported on the Greater Fort Worth area for more than two years while working for the Dallas Business Journal.

American City Business Journals operates newsrooms in 45 U.S. cities, including Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. The company is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and describes itself as the largest publisher of local business news in the United States.
